01 — Why Digital Design

You don’t just want to apply design — you want to rethink it?

In the Digital Design master’s programme you advance your creative, technological and conceptual practice — open, experimental and project-driven. The programme combines design thinking, media art, photography, graphic design, interaction & interface design, AI, XR, information visualisation, media programming, corporate design and applied research.

You work on real projects, develop prototypes, reflect on contemporary media cultures and build a professional portfolio step by step. We understand AI not as a list of tools but as a cross-cutting competence — an extension of artistic and conceptual possibilities, not a replacement for design.

Digital Design is for people who want to develop independent projects with visual, digital and media-based means — for art and culture, the creative industries, research, communication, education, business or their own start-up.

02 — Three Masterclasses

Choose your profile

Right at the start of the programme you choose one of three masterclasses. All of them work project-driven, research-led and with current digital technologies — from AI to XR, from print to performance, from portfolio to public presentation.

Experimental Media

Art & Tech / AI / XR / Immersion / Interaction / Performance / Media Art

You develop artistic and creative projects at the intersection of digital technologies, media art, AI, XR, interaction, space, sound, performance and immersive installations. You work with current tools and experimental modes of production and explore new forms of audiovisual, interactive and performative design — for everyone who wants not only to apply digital media, but to rethink them critically, poetically and experimentally.

Photography

Image Culture / Staging / AI / Post-production / Light / Camera / Visual Narration

You engage with the role of the photographic image in the digital age and develop your own visual languages between documentary, staged, artistic and applied photography. Digital workflows, light, camera, post-production, AI-based image processes, AR extensions, content creation and editorial formats are understood as creative tools. The goal is a professional portfolio with a clear visual stance.

Graphic Design

Brand Identity / Typography / Editorial / UI/UX / Web / Print / Generative Design

You develop visual systems for brands, publications, interfaces, campaigns and digital media. The focus lies on conceptual design, typography, corporate design, editorial design, web design, UI/UX, print production and generative or AI-supported design processes. You learn to structure complex content visually and to understand design as an interface between communication, technology and society.

03 — Studying means producing

Projects that don’t end in class

Work from Digital Design becomes visible through platforms, exhibitions, festivals, audiovisual channels and public presentations. This turns the programme into a real space for production, presentation and networking.
