The recording, released by Telfunken/ Telder 9n 1969, ist he first realisation of Orfeo with (reconstructed) original instruments.
Thus, it also represents the beginning of a new era of Monteverdi’s work. Both, the recording from 1969 and the performance of
Harnoncourt’s Orfeo-interpreation at the opera-house in Zurich (1975), directed by Jean-Pierre Ponelle, serve as a model.
Both are more than a simple reconstruction of the historically correct sound but modern interpretations at the same
time.
