The collection ART GAMES MW gathers reconstructions, twins and games made in recent weeks from Markus Wintersberger’s work: spaces that existed (the vaulted cellar of BASEMENT, the light chamber of GAMMARAY, the rotating body of RAUM 11), spaces that exist (the USTP forecourt, the chapel of Laa, the tower room at Göttweig) and spaces that only exist as models (HALLE 006, the cabinet TIME BODY). EUTOPIA takes this collection not as a gallery but as terrain: it is surveyed.
First a grid lies on the sea, theodolites stand on the rim of a crater, red and cyan lasers scan the water. Then the crater erupts and the works rise from the sea as islands – an eruption, not an installation. Each island carries a survey label with coordinates and the Sketchfab ID of its model. A thread of embers links them in time order. Some places fall out of order: the cellar hangs upside down in the sky, RAUM 11 circles as a moon, the Little Planet orbits the archipelago, the drill cores of KERNZEIT hang below their island into the sea.
The second version reconstructs the same as pure protocol: every model becomes a point cloud, every island a survey ring, time a column. First the works stack by year, then they are ejected and find their place – time becomes space.
